WORK TRAINING PROGRAMS

Equipping Young Adults For A Brighter Future

Sozo Children collaborates with local nonprofits through its upscale thrift store, Sozo Trading Co., located in the Avondale area. These partnerships provide job training for young adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). Participants gain valuable social skills, learn to maintain work/life balance, receive on-the-job training, and more, preparing them for a brighter future.

PARTNERS

Program
Funding

Funded by generous foundations, our recycling program supports sustainable practices and provides financial resources for our initiatives.

Environmental Impact

By diverting textiles from landfills, we reduce waste and promote environmental sustainability in the Birmingham area.

Recycling Outcomes

The recycled materials are transformed into useful products, contributing to various industries and benefiting the community.

RECYCLING PROGRAM

Sustainable Solutions For A Better Tomorrow

Our recycling program, initially funded by the Alabama Power Foundation and the Independent Presbyterian Foundation, has diverted over 120 tons of textiles from Birmingham-area landfills. These textiles are repurposed into rewoven fabrics, insulation, industrial cleaning supplies, and more, generating revenue for Sozo Children while protecting the environment.
