Group Trips

HAVE A GROUP OF 6 OR MORE?

We would love to coordinate a mission trip for your church, school, small group, or any group of 6 or more! Not only will you experience the amazing work God is doing in Uganda through Sozo but you can experience it with those you love from home!

How To Apply For A Group Trip

STEP 1: GATHER

Assemble a group of 6 -12 committed individuals willing to serve in Uganda.

STEP 2: PLAN

Look at the scheduled trips on our website and see if any dates fit for you! If not, no problem! We can also plan custom trip dates (subject to availability).

STEP 3. RESERVE

As the group leader, you will first apply for your team so we can begin reserving a date for your team.

STEP 4. REGISTER

Once accepted, you will need to pay the nonrefundable $500 registration fee for your team within 2 weeks of acceptance.

STEP 5. APPLY

Once you’ve registered your group, we’ll send you a link for each of the team members to fill out an individual application. Unless there is a serious concern about a prospective team member, we will add them to your team and they can begin fundraising!

Group Trips FAQ

As a group leader, you will only be responsible for coordinating with your team prior to departure. You will work alongside the Commissioning Coordinator and team leader to ensure team members are meeting deadlines and the team is trained. Once in Uganda, your Sozo Children team leader will handle all of the on-ground logistics. Once you land in Uganda, you are can sit back and relax!

Group leaders are only required to pay for their flight and any excursion! All the on-ground cost of the trip including visa, food, lodging, etc. will be covered. This is a huge perk of gathering a group to serve in Uganda. We know gathering and coordinating a group of 6-12 people can be quite challenging so as an incentive we offer a significantly reduced trip cost.

In the case that a team member is not accepted, we will refund the registration fee for that specific team member. However, you are responsible for recruiting another individual in their place if the group number falls below 6.

Ideally, your group will be formed before you reserve your dates. However, we do realize that often some groups need to have the date reserved first in order to have team members commit. In this case, by the first payment deadline at least 6 team members will need to be accepted. Please note that regardless of when a team member is accepted they are expected to meet all deadlines on time, past or present. If at this time 6 team members have not been accepted and have not met the first payment deadline your trip will unfortunately be postponed.

Similar to our refund policy, we have three options if you trip is postponed or cancelled. Each team member has the option to leave funds in their account to be used on a trip within the calendar year, apply their donations toward another team member’s trip cost, or donate towards Sozo Children’s greatest need.

Depending on the dates, it is quite possible you will be on the ground the same time as another team. We try to keep the teams as separate as possible to ensure each team has their own unique experience. However, there will likely be some overlap between the schedules.

We would love for you to fully contribute in the team debrief and help our team leader understand the dynamics of your group. However, our Sozo team leader will be responsible for guiding the debrief and helping the team engage in what God is doing in Uganda through Sozo.

If the teams are all flying from the same airport, we will book you all on the same itinerary. If any team member is flying from another airport, they will likely meet up with the rest of the team in Amsterdam.

No. As long as you have at least 6-12 committed individuals (not including yourself), you can apply for a group trip.

Unfortunately, at this time we can only accommodate a group trip for up to 10 days. Exceptions will be made in rare circumstances.

Most likely, we’ll have to unfortunately postpone your trip until there are enough individuals. In some circumstances, we will be able to make an exception. Please note we take canceling/postponing group trips very seriously and only do so when absolutely necessary.

Unfortunately, due to our 501c3 tax exempt status, any donations Sozo Children receives toward the cost of the trip are non-refundable. We are aware of circumstances that may inhibit your ability to serve on a team; therefore, we have three options if you are unable to go on the trip. Each team member has the option to leave funds in their account to be used on a trip within the calendar year, applying your donations toward another team member’s trip cost, or donating towards Sozo Children’s greatest need. If you over-fundraise for your trip, the same policy applies.
