MAKE AN IMPACT
Provide for a child’s basic needs to meet their full potential.
who we are
Our mission at Sozo Children is to empower vulnerable children to become thriving leaders.
All children thriving. All communities transformed.
How We Got started
Taking "Sozo" from the Greek term for "to rescue," we created a dedicated family-style home to provide children with a safe, functional, and suitable place to live and thrive.
Sozo Children was founded on May 13, 2010, out of an urgent need to care for neglected children in Uganda. When two missionaries discovered a group of children in dire need of care, they took action. In just ten days, and with help from local Ugandan leaders, the original seventeen Sozo Children were provided with a roof over their heads, clean clothes, and hope for the future.

how you can help
Do you want to help to improve children’s lives in Uganda? If you’re interested in supporting the great work we do at Sozo Children, here are some of the things you can do:
By sponsoring a Sozo Child, you contribute to our continuum of care which provides each child with quality education, a safe, loving home environment, medical care, proper nutrition, and spiritual direction. From just $35 a month, you could change the course of someone's whole life–and perhaps your own process.
If you feel led to support the overall vision of Sozo Children, you can become a monthly donor known as a Sozo Multiplier. (CLICK HERE) Monthly giving provides critical support of community outreach programs such as Kid’s Club, entrepreneurship training through our Work for Life program, sustainable farming initiatives, and medical and nutritional outreach into the communities around Sozo Village.
If you're keen to make a difference in person, you can also join one of our mission trips. You can get to know the children and families we help and connect with our vision and mission to help more children in the future.
Our thrift marketplace helps raise funds to support Sozo Children and can be found Monday to Saturday in Avondale. Whether you choose to support by donating items or by purchasing from our marketplace, your support is invaluable to our cause.
Sozo Children offers a variety of ways for you or your group to plug into our purpose. Whether you volunteer to sort donations in our store or help at one of our three fundraising events, we are happy to work alongside you as you live out your calling to serve others.
